Hello fellow parents, another Monday brings another week of lockdown ahead, but fear not, the Dad Plus Kids newsletter is here to help and together we will get through this. Every day I share my top 5 tips for keeping the kids entertained, here is today’s 5

  • Build a fort, it’s a great way to enjoy spending time with your kids and it’s wonderful for an indoor activity while the weather is cold. Fort building is more than just a fun activity, it teaches your kids problem solving and critical thinking as their little brains figure out how to construct a den that won’t cave in.   • Get them in the garden. Getting the kids out in the garden is a great way to teach them about sustainability, how things grow and get some fresh air into their lungs. The BBC’s Gardeners World magazine has some good ideas for kids gardening tools and kits.

  • Another garden activity that kids love is building your own bird hotel. The RSPB has a free guide here. Kids love looking at beasties and this is a great way to collect them.

  • If you’re feeling brave or planning to re-decorate anyway, why not let your kids paint a mural wall. This is a fun way to get them to express their creativity and is good messy play time.

  • Encourage their love of Science with some STEM activities. We love these walking water rainbows, fun, educational and just a little messy.
